Privacy Policy

CYA Snapper is built by Ironclad LLC. The short version: the app records photos, location, and the ticket details you type, and all of it stays on your device. There are no accounts and no servers. We never receive your data.

What the app records

CYA Snapperdocuments locates, so it deliberately captures more than a normal camera. For each photo it records the image itself, latitude and longitude, the horizontal accuracy radius, altitude, compass bearing, device tilt and roll, the date and time from your device’s clock, a street address looked up from the coordinates, your device model, iOS version, app version, and a SHA-256 hash of the original image.

It also stores whatever you enter yourself: ticket number, one-call center, work address, work type, contractor or excavator name, and your notes.

Where it is stored

On your device, in the app’s own storage. A copy of each stamped photo is also saved to your Photos library so you keep your own copy. The app only adds photos to your library and never reads it.

When your device contacts Apple

Two features send location information to Apple in order to work. Turning a set of coordinates into a street address, and drawing the map page in an evidence package, both use Apple’s map services. In each case your device sends the coordinate to Apple to get an address or a map image back. That handling is governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not ours. It is the only time your location leaves the device without you choosing to export it, and it never passes through Ironclad.

What we collect

Nothing. Ironclad operates no backend for this app. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs collecting anything. We cannot see your photos, your locations, or your tickets, because they are never sent to us.

Exporting and sharing

Evidence packages, original images, and metadata files leave your device only when you export them, using the standard iOS share sheet. You choose the destination, whether that is email, a messaging app, cloud storage, or a file saved locally. Once you send a package somewhere, that destination’s own privacy terms apply to it.

Deleting your data

Deleting a photo from a ticket leaves a dated note in that ticket’s log recording that a photo was removed, so the record of the ticket stays complete. Deleting the app removes the app’s stored data from your device. Copies you already saved to Photos or exported elsewhere are yours to manage.

Permissions the app asks for

Camera, to take the photos. Location while in use, including precise location, because an approximate position can be one to twenty kilometers wide and cannot document a locate. Permission to add photos to your library, so you keep your own copy. You can decline or later change any of these in iOS Settings. The app still functions with location denied, and photos captured without a position fix are marked as having no GPS fix.

About the hash

CYA Snapper computes a SHA-256 hash of each original image at the moment of capture and prints it in the evidence package. This is a tamper-evident measure: it lets someone check whether an image is unchanged since capture. It is a technical check only. Whether any document is accepted in a claim or a proceeding is a legal determination that Ironclad does not make and does not promise.

Children’s privacy

CYA Snapper is a professional field tool and is not directed to children. We collect no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
